It was a cold night for the first Hinckley CRC Tuesday Night 10 of 2008. The heavy shower an hour before the start may have kept one or two riders at home, but the 28 who made the start line took advantage of the calm conditions and new smooth road surface to post some good times.
Amongst the field were 6 new riders, confirming Hinckley status as a growing club. First away was Richard Hart, who managed to keep his minute-man at bay for the first time and finished in a solid 28:23. New riders Dave Evans (32:24), James Cooper(29:10), Richard Gamble (28:45), Neil Dixon(28:25) and Scott Chaplin (27:49) all recorded promising times on their first outing. Rob Weare, also in his first ride, posted an very impressive 23:41 to finish 5th overall. Of the regular Hinckley riders there were several improvements. A new Personal Best from Mark Lee (25:19) knocked a good couple of minutes off his best time last season, showing he has been working hard over the winter. Junior Harry Whitford (25:15) also recorded a Course PB, to finish in 10th place. The big result of the evening was Joules Reed. On the back of a lot of hard work over the winter, and equipped with a new bike, Reed topped the table with a Personal Best of 22:45. In the absence of some of the favorites, Reed’s impressive start has shown him to be a serious contender for the season long 5-Star competition. Full Results on http://www.hinckleycrc.org/ |
