Leicestershire County Council is celebrating the work of the county’s 882 childminders with the launch of its revamped Mobile Community Centre.
The vehicle, which is used to support childcare practitioners and families in Leicestershire, has been completely redesigned by a group of school children who are cared for by Shepshed childminder, Jean Price. The children, aged between five and 12, entered the design competition earlier in the year, and are now able to see their drawings brought to life on the exterior of the mobile centre as part of the vehicle’s new design. Jean and her talented bunch are delighted to have scooped the prize, “We’re really pleased to have played a part in the design process. The children are so excited about their efforts being driven all over Leicestershire.” The Mobile Community Centre supports families and children across the county, including its market towns, small villages and rural locations. It is used to provide mobile crèche facilities, host training events, provide information to parents and promote careers in childcare. The vehicle’s relaunch comes during National Childminding Week. From 14th to 21st June, Leicestershire County Council will be celebrating the contribution childminders make to family lives. Lead member for Children and Young People, Ivan Ould is keen to highlight the valuable work of childminders: “Leicestershire’s network of childminding professionals support parents and families across the county. They provide quality learning and care which helps our children and young people to thrive.” |
