Motorists in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are being offered free advice on motorway driving. Leicestershire Constabulary is holding a motorway driving evening on Thursday June 5 aimed at any motorists who feel nervous about driving on the motorway.
It's also an opportunity for newly qualified drivers who may have no experience on motorways to gain some useful skills. The event will include a presentation and videos highlighting some of the problems drivers could face. Leicestershire Constabulary's road safety officer, John Budulis, said: "We have found that many motorists, both newly qualified and those with years of experience, lack confidence when driving on motorways and welcome any tips and advice that we can offer. "Motorways are relatively safe, considering the volume of traffic that uses them. However, newly qualified drivers have absolutely no experience of motorways as they are not included in the practical driving test. "We have run similar evenings in the past and they have been very well received. Our aim is to help people to drive safely on our roads and prevent possible collisions." Anyone interested in finding out more about the evening on Thursday June 5 can call (0116) 222 2222 extension 2436. Relatives or friends of motorists are also welcome. The event will be held at Force Headquarters, St John's, Enderby, Leicester, LE19 2BX. |
