Following a feasibility study, there appears to be a local need in the Hinckley area for a Prince’s Trust Programme and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is therefore looking to run a 12 week Hinckley based course commencing in September 2008, to draw in young people from the Hinckley, Earl Shilton and Barwell areas.
In order for this course to run, they now need to find suitable accommodation in Hinckley for "PT Hinckley Team 1" from September 2008, ideally near to the centre of Hinckley. The Prince's Trust has now been delivering a programme of 12 week courses for young adults (1625) in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland since 1997. Over 1,300 people have been through the local programme. The success rate in turning lives around and in giving team members the opportunity to realise their potential, is impressive. The majority of members get meaningful employment as a result of attendance and many go back into further education. A Prince’s Trust Team normally comprises of around 1215 members and one basic requirement is a "Team Room", a base that the team can 'own' for the duration of the course and have complete and secure use of. We have been very successful in securing the support of Leicester City Football Club and Leicester Tigers Football Club in providing free team accommodation and out in the county suitable facilities have also been found usually at no, or minimal, cost. They want to embed the fact that this Prince's Trust project is about community engagement. Although LFRS is the delivery partner the success of the project relies on leading agencies within the community embracing and supporting it. If you are able to help them find a suitable team room or would like further information on how you could help, please contact Juliet Briggs on 0116 2292117. |
