New computer courses are proving just the job for workers in Leicestershire.
The County Council’s adult learning service is running a range of new courses specially designed to build confidence and skills with employers and employees.
Computer skills are crucial to getting employment and being successful in 90 per cent of jobs.
Of particular interest to employers are the ITQ (information technology qualification) courses. These can be specially designed and tailored to suit employees and can make a significant difference to improving staff skills and productivity.
ITQ is the new gold standard for the employee, giving a full level 2 qualification, the equivalent of five GCSEs, and a real sense of achievement.
The county council has also developed fast-track ECDL (European computer driving licence) courses so employees can accredit the skills they have and learn new ones - without having to spend weeks in a class.
We have CLAiT (Computer Learning and Information Technology) and CLAiT Plus courses for those who want to follow a traditional route, or there are distance learning options for those who find weekly attendance at a college difficult.
Also on offer are courses in Web Design, Photoshop and Flash Programming, as well as First Steps courses, for those starting out in computing.
People can sign up at the touch of a button by calling the new, freephone number - 0800 988 0308 - where information and advice is available about all courses offered.
Ivan Ould, Cabinet member for Children’s and Young People’s Service said: “These courses are an excellent way for employees and employers to learn essential new computer skills. Employees can benefit by improving their job prospects and employers by increasing the skills of their workforce. I would encourage as many people as possible to get involved."
Employers wanting more information about ITQ should call Ian Ross on 01455 5638079. Leaflets with all other new course details are available by calling 0800 988 0308, from libraries, adult learning centres and community centres or emailing
